FAQ
We donate a proportion of our profit to environmental charities so you can support sustainability and the good work they do while also making money!
We're reliable scrap gold buyers with a green mission, a simple service and we make fair offers and fast payments.
You don't need to find a buyer near you because we operate entirely online!
So if you're curious about your gold's value then request our free valuation pack. We offer up to £750 shipping insurance from Royal Mail as standard so you can have confidence in the delivery process, just let us know you if need more than one bag.
Set up by physicists, recycleold.gold uses X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis to assay all the metal received so we can be 100% confident our assessments are technically correct.
We then use the daily Gold Spot Price set by the London Bullion Market Association to make a valuation. We pay a proportion of the spot price, depending on the amount of gold received.
We use X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis to accurately identify the purity and volume of the gold (or other precious metal) and then combine these factors with the daily London Bullion Market Association spot price in order to make an offer. We pay a percentage of spot price, determined by the amount of precious metal received.
We transfer money directly to your bank account using Faster Payments from our Wise bank account. This is the quickest, cheapest and most secure method of receiving your payment. Under normal circumstances, our usual transfer time from accepting the offer to being paid is less than 6 minutes.
The process is very easy. Simply request a gold recycling pack, which is sent as soon as possible to your chosen address. Put your items into the protective envelope and put them all in the Special Delivery envelope provided.
Take it to a Post Office and collect your proof of posting receipt. The items will be signed for when they reach us and we will assay them the same day, sending out your offer by SMS and email. As soon as you accept your offer by entering your bank account details into our online form, the agreed amount will be paid directly to your nominated bank account by Faster Payments.
If you don’t want to accept the offer, reply to the email or SMS or give us a call on 020 4572 1471 to discuss it.
If ultimately you wish your gold to be returned to you, we can do this for free if the weight of the precious metals is greater than 10g.
A £15 admin fee will be charged to return parcels with less than 10g of precious metals, to cover administration costs.
We use Royal Mail Special Delivery which means your parcels are trackable and insured for up to £750.
You are provided with a receipt as proof of postage and the parcel will be signed for upon receipt so you know it reached us safely.
If you think you parcel may be worth more than £750 you can split it across multiple bags, just let us know in advance if you need more than one.
Gold mining is spectacularly damaging to the environment so every gram of gold we can get back into circulation reduces the desirability of newly mined gold.
The tenets of sustainability are reduce, reuse and recycle and that’s what we believe in at recycleold.gold. The added bonus is that, unlike with other forms of recycling, your old gold and precious metals have value!
You can be paid to be eco-friendly and help the planet and what’s not to love about that?
We have relationships with jewellers and refiners who will melt down the old metals we buy and remake them into new jewellery, bullion or other useful gold products.
These then do not need to be sourced from new gold.
Most gemstones have little onward value but we will accept them if you do not wish to remove them yourself. If we can find a buyer for your stones, we will make you a separate offer (this is more likely for bigger stones, depending on cut, colour and clarity).
We do advise you remove them before sending your jewellery to us if you wish to keep any gemstones, or they can be returned to you for an administration fee of £15.
RecycleOld.Gold works on economies of scale, so we are able to offer better prices for larger amounts of precious metals and prefer a minimum of 10g.
We will accept and pay for parcels with less precious metal than this, but there is a £15 administration fee for their return if you do not accept our offer.
The maximum parcel size with Royal Mail Special Delivery (guaranteed by 1pm) is 20kg.
Gold (9ct +), Palladium (950) and Platinum (900 or 950) are the precious metals most valuable to the industry and therefore there is a market for recycling them. We can only pay for gold that is at least 9 carat. We cannot pay for gold plated items.
We will accept sterling (925) and pure silver but it must come with at least 10g of precious metals if it is to be returned for free – otherwise a £15 admin charge applies.
No – we assay jewellery using X-ray fluorescence (XRF) analysis to identify the purity and volume of precious metals.
