XRF assay and the LBMA spot price
Our valuation rests on two things: an accurate measure of what your gold actually is, and a fair, public benchmark for what it's worth. We assay every item by X-ray fluorescence (XRF), a non-destructive method used by professional refiners, which tells us the precise carat without relying on hallmarks.
We then value your gold against the live London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) spot price, paying a percentage of spot by weight and purity. The per-gram rates in the table below refresh to the live spot price at 9am (UK) each morning.

FAQ
What is an XRF assay?
X-ray fluorescence is a non-destructive test that measures the exact metal content of an item. It's how we confirm carat accurately, even without hallmarks.
What is the LBMA spot price?
The London Bullion Market Association sets the internationally recognised daily benchmark price for international gold trading. The scrap industry applies a percentage to this price as gold trades at a lower price for individuals and lower again for less than 24ct gold as it needs refining to reuse.
What percentage of spot do you pay?
It depends on the weight and purity of the precious metals. Get in touch for a quote specific to your circumstances.
Can I estimate my gold's value first?
You can use today's per-gram rates in the table above with the weight and carat of your gold to get the value at 100% of spot price – you won't achieve quite this in a sale though - get in touch for a quote specific to your circumstances.
