Where can I sell my gold?

You don't need to find a buyer near you. Sell your gold to us entirely by post: we send a free pack, you return your items with free insured Royal Mail Special Delivery, and we make you an offer the next working day.

Every item is assayed by XRF and valued against the live LBMA spot price and there is no face-to-face pressure to accept on the spot. When you do accept, you are paid within a minute of accepting by Faster Payments.

Understanding what your gold is worth

Two numbers decide the value of any gold item: how much it weighs and how pure it is. Purity is shown by the carat mark. 9ct gold is 37.5 percent gold, 18ct is 75 percent and 24ct is effectively pure, so a heavy 9ct chain can be worth less than a lighter 18ct one. We pay on the actual gold content, not a flat rate per gram.

We confirm purity by XRF assay instead of relying on the stamp, which means unmarked, antique or foreign-marked gold is valued just as accurately. Your offer is calculated using the live LBMA spot price, so you can see it tracks the real market rather than a fixed buy price.

FAQ

How do you decide what my gold is worth?

We confirm purity by XRF assay, weigh your gold, and pay a percentage of the live LBMA spot price for that carat. The current LBMA per-gram rates are shown in the table above.

Is posting gold safe?

Yes. We use Royal Mail Special Delivery, which is tracked, signed for and insured to £750, and you keep proof of posting. For higher values we ask you to split items across separate insured bags.

Do I need hallmarks?

No. Our XRF assay measures the actual gold content, so unmarked and foreign-marked items are valued accurately.

Is there a minimum amount?

RecycleOld.Gold works on economies of scale, so we are able to offer better prices for larger amounts of precious metals and prefer a minimum of 10g. We will accept and pay for parcels with less precious metal than this, but there is a £15 administration fee for their return if you do not accept our offer.
